Adult
ADULT EDUCATION:
One hour each Sunday we adults (College
– Senior Citizens) have an opportunity to grow in our faith, to gain a deeper
understanding of who our God is and what His will is for our lives, for our
families and to get to know, laugh with, and share with the very people we
worship with. You are probably thinking..."Most of us seem to have it all
together and don’t need this kind of training"...but think again. It is only
one hour out of 168 hours you have each week. 1/168 of your week...a small
investment for such rich rewards. Check out the offerings for this Sunday and
dare to come and join us for some great discussion and fellowship. I know you
will be glad you did. AND bring the kids and have them grow as well...make it a
family affair...excellent Christian Education classes are available for every
age group.

Adult Sunday School Classes:
Adults of all ages are WELCOME!
Coffee will be served in all
classes and each will begin promptly at 9:30 and 11:00
9:30 a.m. Seeking Peace. In his book
Seeking Peace, Johann Arnold offers that true peace for believers is founded
in Simplicity, Surrender, Humility, and Trust. In this study group we will
consider these themes, and more, as we grow in peace and live in God’s love. We
meet Sundays at 9:30 a.m. in the church library. The discussions are facilitated
by Tom Heustis. All are invited.
11:00 a.m. The Book of Acts. Room 35,
11:00 a.m. led by Rich & Donna Scott. We will learn geography, demography, and
Bible history as we study the last half of this important book. In this study we
will see how God equips and calls ordinary people to do extraordinary tasks. The
class will resume on January 17. Join us, won’t you?

along with an opportunity to create your own visual prayer. No previous art or
prayer experience needed. The workshop will meet on Sundays, Jan 10
through Feb. 7 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Chapel Room.
It is facilitated by Karla Neumann Smiley, Campus Christian Center Director and
Lutheran Campus Minister. Advanced sign-up is encouraged but walk-ins are also

Four-Week Study of Galatians.
Starting January 20th during the hour following Wednesday Fellowship Supper,
Pastor Norman will lead a study of the New Testament book of Galatians. Written
by the apostle Paul as a letter to the Galatians, we will examine what the
vigorous language and imagery lead us to notice about our faith. We will use N.T.
Wright’s Paul for Everyone commentary on Galatians and Thessalonians for this
discussion. Pick up a copy of the book in the church office ($12 per copy). N.T.
Wright, making use of scholars’ understanding, writes with an approachable and
anecdotal style. Wright captures the tension and excitement of the times as the
letter seeks to assert Paul’s authority and his teaching in response to
competing influences.

College Group:
All college aged folks are invited to gather on
Thursday evenings at 5:30 p.m. when UI is in session. Together we will explore our world, ask questions
of faith, search the scriptures and have some fun and food as well. We will meet
at the church for about an hour and a half. For further info please see Pastor Norman.

Various other study groups meet during the week. The best
way to find out about them is to call the church office.
