Moms' Group
Mom's group meets on each Wednesday at 1 p.m. (NOTE: our meeting day has changed from Tuesday to Wednesday.) Donna Scott facilitates and nursery care is provided.

Wednesday Supper Fellowship is back!
Join us this week, February 17, for a delicious meal of Mongolian Stir Fry, brown rice, green salad and cookies prepared by Chef Carrie Jansky and her crew. Bring a friend or two! Dinner is served at 6:00 p.m. following the 5:30 p.m. Taizé worship. There is no charge for the meal, but donations are gladly accepted. After dinner, there are a number of activities to participate in, including choir, and a Bible study on Galatians led by Pastor Norman. Come enjoy a delicious meal, visit with old friends and make some new friends.

New Lenten Bible Study
On Wednesday evenings (Feb. 17-March 31) following our Wednesday Supper Fellowship, we will spend about an hour (7-8 pm) in a Lenten study of the disciple, and eventually apostle, Peter. We will look at the Gospels’ (mainly Luke’s) description of Peter and how he represents and teaches followers of Christ. His humanity in his walk with Jesus informs and encourages us in our walk. You are invited to come and participate in learning about, and from, one of Jesus’ first disciples.

Boundaries with Kids: New Sunday School Class for adults during the 9:30 hour in Room 35. We are studying “Boundaries with Kids” by Cloud and Townsend. This class is geared for parents with children of all ages. Each week we will read a chapter from our book, then discuss both scripture and personal experience regarding parenting.
Books available in the office.

Art as Prayer
FPC will host a 5 session, hands-on workshop series which will make connections between the tactile, visual and spiritual. Each session will include learning about prayer and art traditions in the Christian faith as well as other faiths, along with an opportunity to create your own visual prayer. No previous art or prayer experience needed. The workshop will meet on Sundays, Jan 10 through Feb. 7 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Chapel Room.
It is facilitated by Karla Neumann Smiley, Campus Christian Center Director and Lutheran Campus Minister.
If you would like to participate, please sign up in the church office or at the Welcome table in the Narthex.

Stephen Ministry

Several FPC members have been commissioned to lead Stephen Ministry, a caring ministry that reaches out to those in need with confidential, one-to-one Christian care.
Through Stephen Ministry, some church members have been equipped to provide quality Christian care to people facing personal crises, such as loss of a loved one, divorce, a terminal illness, loneliness, unemployment, or a spiritual crisis.

Evangelism Corner:  The Christian life is a great adventure. God loves us and has a wonderful, exciting plan for us. We are not creatures of chance, brought into the world for a meaningless, miserable existence; but rather, we are people of destiny, created for meaningful and joyful lives. Jesus promises, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10). (From a letter from Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade for Christ)  Plant a new seed, and share this news with a friend this week!
Friendship Forms:
Both new-comers and long-timers: sign, with your address and phone number.
Getting To Know You:
Join us after the worship for coffee, tea and conversation.  Introduce yourself to someone new.  Ours is a sharing faith.  Let’s keep our congregation a sharing fellowship of believers!

Questions from “Seekers and Learners”  classes :

Q. What is the difference between just attending First Presbyterian Church and actually joining?
A.  According to Margaret Littlejohn’s research, the term “Presbyterian” comes from the Greek Word presbuteros, meaning “elder.” A Presbyter was an elder in the early Christian Church.  FPC, like all  Presbyterian churches is a church with Jesus Christ at the head and with government provided by elders (and other lay leaders).  While all church attendees are eligible for pastoral care and may participate on committees and in the life of the church, non-members do not have a vote and may not hold the position of elder or deacon.

Q. How do I become a member?
A.  The three ways to join a Presbyterian church are profession of faith in Jesus Christ, reaffirmation of faith professed at a different Presbyterian church, or transfer from another Presbyterian church or church in another Christian denomination.

We welcome all questions about FPC, past and present; church membership; or the ministries of the church. Please send to fpc@turbonet.com. We will post submitted questions (with answers).

Want an online devotional? Too many to choose from to recommend just one.  If you put the words “Christian devotionals” in the Google.com  search engine box, you’ll have LOTS to choose from.
